COURSE OBJECTIVES

The major objective of Art I is to improve drawing skills while employing a wider range of media and techniques. There will be an emphasis on aesthetic knowledge, creative growth, and individual expression through the use of various tools and materials, as well as art history, art appreciation, and art criticism/critique. The basic elements and fundamentals of art such as line, form, shape, color, shading, composition, perspective and craftsmanship will be highly stressed and developed through out the year.

Sketchbooks

Weekly sketchbook activities will be assigned throughout each semester. Project critiques will be held in class on all major assignments. Sketchbooks will be graded as well as participation during each critique.

 

Grading/Incomplete Work/Extra Credit

Each semester grade will be an average of art project grades, sketchbooks, test and daily assignments. All incomplete work will be automatically graded as a 60.  Students will have many opportunities to make up work as well as earn extra credit. Extra Credit can be earned by bringing in supplies or helping outside of class room hrs, making up late work - to be specified upon request.  Everyone will and can pass ART. Failing is not an option.

 

ATTENDANCE & TARDY POLICY

It is expected that students attend class on time every day.

Subsequent tardies will result in further disciplinary action to be assigned by an administrator. See student handbook

 

EXPECTATIONS

It is the intention of the Art Department to create an environment in which students enjoy creating and appreciating art. Students are expected to push the creative envelop, follow instructions, ask questions, respect the classroom (other students and the teacher), do not waste materials, research artists, turn in assignments on time, have a high opinion of your work, display craftsmanship on each project and enjoy expressing yourself through art. I look forward to working with you!

 

PARTICIPATION IS THE KEY TO THIS CLASS!!!!!  - And will be a major factor of each student’s over all grade -

COURSE OBJECTIVES

The major objectives of Art II are to improve drawing skills and fundamentals while employing a wider range of media and techniques carrier over from Art I. There will be an emphasis on aesthetic knowledge, creative growth, and individual expression through the use of various tools and materials, as well as art history, art appreciation, and art criticism/critique.   Each student will be responsible for developing a “body of work” throughout the semester.

Weekly sketchbook activities will be assigned throughout each semester. Project critiques will be held in class on all major assignments. Sketchbooks will be graded as well as participation during each critique. – Each student will build a working portfolio on paper and digital (website)

Critiques

We will critique each project in class. This will give each student time to provide feedback about everyone’s artwork and help grow each section vocabulary.

Field trips are awarded to students who actively participate in daily class assignments and maintain a 90% or above average in my class.
